A group of New Mexico funders came together to better ensure that the statewide nonprofit sector has the information, support, and resources required to operate in an efficient and effective manner to meet the needs of the people and communities they serve. Apex was selected through a competitive Request for Proposals to assess the current landscape of strengths, gaps, and opportunities for the nonprofit support systems in New Mexico. With input from a steering committee, Apex designed, conducted, and analyzed surveys from nonprofits and funders, interviews with nonprofits in rural and tribal areas, interviews with organizations that support nonprofits, and case studies of innovative practices in other states. The final report highlights key themes from across data sources and offers recommendations for the steering committee to take action. Apex also designed a Nonprofit Support System Framework to guide future work based on literature and findings.
