The Garrett Lee Smith (GLS) project aims to decrease the rate of suicide attempts and completions among 10-24 year olds in New Mexico. Focus communities include Bernalillo, McKinley, Otero, Rio Arriba, and San Juan. Apex’s role in the GLS project centers around data collection, analysis, and reporting project progress and outcomes to the funder and OSAH. This project offers Navigation services for behavioral health in four schools in four counties across the state. OSAH/GLS sponsored training opportunities have reached individuals in 26 out of 33 counties in New Mexico. Annual reports and continuation applications to SAMHSA are used to note progress, achievements, and challenges in meeting the grant’s goals and objectives.
