On August 2, Nancy Hood and Jacqueline Eckman partnered with Santa Fe ¡YouthWorks!, a nonprofit, community-based organization that creates opportunities for “disconnected” youth to become engaged and valued members of their communities. Hood and Eckman helped to train a team of young people to collect the Reconnecting Youth Survey (RYS). RYS gives a voice to young people who are not in school or work, a population often left out of surveys. In the first week after training, these young people collected more than 125 surveys, and results will be used to request additional funding for young people desiring to be better connected to services and resources in Santa Fe and beyond. This project is part of the Santa Fe Birth to Career Collaboration and funded by the New Mexico Children, Youth, and Families Department and the Santa Fe Community Foundation.
